Position Yourself
Have you ever wanted more, desired more, and known that there was greater for you; but you almost don’t know how to get there?!
You can taste it, smell it, maybe you’ve even caught a glimpse of what could be. Understanding your purpose is important when it comes to positioning yourself to walk out life purposefully.
Positioning requires us to make sure we are making room, adjusting, decluttering, and even detoxifying our lives as often as we need. Making room to allow the blessings of God to flow, as we move into position, and it takes willfulness. Like all things, positioning takes prayer specifically for guidance and direction with the ways we take and decisions for our lives. When positioning and repositioning, we have to be willing to let some things go including ourselves and turn it all over to the father. We have to challenge our hearts, minds and spirits to seek the things of God like never before, train our flesh and spirit to develop a consistent hunger and thirst. Feeding this appetite will give us clarity on what to do next. When we put ourselves in a place where we have agreed to get into alignment with God, we have decided that we will live according to His will and follow him, which means He takes the lead and goes before us. The purpose of positioning much like anything else is practicality, what do you need to change, and do to get to where you’re trying to go.
When we think about applying for a new job and switching careers the first thing, we do is dust off our resume, clean it up and make it applicable to whatever position we are seeking. We then take some time to learn about the company, rewrite a cover letter to fit the position and adapt from there, the show is in the interview because we want to be prepared- I mean we sometimes create a whole new persona (position forward, or course!). We did the work and some sprucing up in hopes of getting the job, but we are only active or proactive pursuing one thing, we aren’t constantly allowing space for continuous learning. As, it is in our personal lives asking God for things when we have stepped out of the bounds of his will, so we pray for a blessing, a miracle, a turnaround but we didn’t keep that up in those moments we didn’t see or feel God… we stepped back and neglected him, am I right? I want to make this as clear as possible because it’s what we do, we move only when we want something from God something great, but we lack consistency, growth, and alignment. I can only speak from experience because things don’t just fall in our laps and the daily stride for me is getting as close to God as I can to live out the will, he has for me. It’s that daily strive to do and be better, at least for me and when you’re off and even out of alignment you can feel it.
Personally, whenever I feel like I need to position myself, I feel a pressing or a nudge in my spirit that lets me know I’m needing to do some renovating. I am able to sense a shift is on the way and I need to prepare myself for it and for God. When you get uncomfortable enough, you’ll move but it shouldn’t take only that; complacency is where many of us get stuck and it’s on us when we fall out of alignment with God to get back in place. He’s literally just waiting on us, like no rush but hurry up!
So, what does repositioning look like for me? I reflect by taking personal inventory evaluating where I am currently, and what is consuming most of my time, thoughts and emotions. This helps me to change some of my habits and structure my routine better giving me clarity on how to pray with a clear mind. I also become aware of how much I have been neglecting God with how little time I spend with Him throughout the day. There is accountability in this and that helps me assess myself while acknowledging where I am in my walk with Christ. If I am expecting the great, I need to prepare for the great, there is a scripture that is often partially quoted and misquoted to fit what we want it to “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (Matthew 24:44 NKJV) the part we pick at is “Be ye also ready” those of us that grew up in church knows exactly what this means because unbeknownst to you a microphone is coming your way; Lol! I digress, the point is that we should maintain a good standing, stay in a place of readiness and keep an open line of communication with God, if we have decided to live for Him, we have to do so intentionally. We should be in place, so we don’t have to scramble and get in place.
Xo, Tee!
