“Knowing who you are in God.”
Let’s talk about knowing your role in life as a follower of Christ this is one thing many have struggled with; I have for sure. I’m going to start with the “Quarter life crisis” the weird spot we get to in our mid-late twenties it’s a whirlwind of un-comfortability, and uncertainty to be in but as you get older it’s still like “Okay, so who am I?” This begins to happen when we become so focused on where we think we should be, who we should be, in turn, wind up comparing ourselves to one another, and how do we slip into this? If you thought social media, you were right, it’s one of those things that you easily overindulge in like mindlessly binge-watching a series. Another avenue we tend to spiral down is overthinking When we find ourselves in disarray, we begin to question who we are; this open window eventually results in a domino effect of questions, negative thoughts, self-talk, etc.
Why is it important to know your role, so that you don’t get lost in the chaos of the world? Remaining grounded and assured in who you are and who you are is solidified in the Word of God. It’s not something that you have to wonder about as a believer, there are times when I’m like “Okay, but what am I doing?” Moments like this I have to remember my purpose and circle back to who God told me that I already am. If I am living for Christ that means that I have a place here, and with that, I am to follow Him in confidence because he has already set a path before me. To stay in my place in God’s word and make sure that I am being obedient and listening to his voice. With His guidance and direction, I know that he will lead me where I need to be and because I am trusting him, he will continue to reassure me in His image because I chose Life.
Are you being who God called you to be?
In honoring the plan God has for your life you must resist the ideology of your desire to be who you ‘want’ to be. The personification that you have for yourself and the way you want others to perceive you based on your status has to be relinquished/released. Our role is total submission to His will for us, I can tell you that there is freedom, sacrifice, and there is yielding that takes place. We won’t be swayed in our identity if we are confident in who we have been called to be, stand in that. The wondering of who we are will cease, and we won’t look for reassurance or identification from the outside. We have to be sure of who we are so that we can tell others about Christ who may be also wandering and wondering themselves. There is freedom, identity, and wholeness in Christ, and the light you have within you will shine brighter than ever when you “walk in the know.”
